After 40 days however, you must take a break for the same number of days you were on the HCG diet before starting another session. How about a real-life case study of someone who did the HCG diet? Easy enough. Let’s look at my wife and myself. Can't get much more personal than that, can we? When we decided to try the HCG diet, neither of us felt we were obese. We are both 5’7”. I had just topped 180lbs (the day I started, I was 183 actually), and my wife was 158lbs. We were both definitely overweight and we wanted to nip this thing in the bud before we did become obese, which would make the job of getting into shape even harder. Between the two of us we had probably tried a dozen different diets, from pills to low-carb. My wife had even once tried this only-orange-juice-and-grapefruits-diet. Nothing we tried worked. And most were very expensive. The biggest obstacles for both of us however was the time they took, between working out and buying and preparing the right foods (especially when you consider we still had two kids to feed “normal” food too). I’m not sure where my wife first heard of the HCG diet, but one day about 2 years ago (at the time of writing this), she said she wanted us to try it. “Everyone raves about this HCG diet,” she shouted from the rooftops. “It only takes 23 days, there is no special food to buy, and there is no working out involved!” Well, to me that sounded too good to be true; but, to make her happy, I figured I’d try this one too. After all, not working out sounded great. With no special foods to buy, I wouldn’t go broke. The HCG itself was very affordable. And what couldn’t I do for 23 days? I really did not expect this to work though. The only research I did was to see if it was healthy. Although I found many people had opinions on how unhealthy a very low calorie diet is, not a single one of these naysayers had actually tried it. Honestly, this probably more than anything made me want to try the HCG diet - I absolutely cannot stand morons who seem to have an opinion on everything whether they have personally tried it or not. I asked my uncle, who is a general practitioner about HCG and the HCG diet, and he said that although he wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to his patients, there is absolutely nothing unhealthy about HCG. Every opinion I read written by someone who had actually tried the HCG diet, was positive. I literally did not find one negative thing written from anyone who had done the HCG diet, other than hunger pains and a few light headaches. Armed with all the information I could find, and knowing my wife was not going to be happy unless we at least tried it, we dove in. We started the HCG diet on a Saturday; we figured the best two days for “loading days” would be a Saturday and Sunday. In hindsight, we did not load nearly enough. Then on Monday, we stared with our 500 calories a day diet. The first week of the HCG diet was the worst and it wasn’t really all that bad. I won’t lie though. We were hungry, especially at night, when we were used to snaking on popcorn and beer. Those were actually the two foods we missed the most. Her, the popcorn, and me, the beer. That first week we lived on lean steak and buffalo chicken breast strips. These two items were great for us because, not only do we both love them, but the kids do too. We would cook enough every night to be able to pack some for our lunches the next day. Funnily enough, we both work in restaurants, so all our employees thought it odd that we were brining our lunches in every day instead of eating for free at work. Things were going OK for us with the HCG diet until that first Friday night. We had eaten early (around 6:00), as we had each of the last four nights. Around 9:00 we were watching some show all about 80’s music, and I swear every single commercial that came on was from a fast food restaurant. We had never felt so hungry as we did that night. In addition, a new McDonalds had just opened in our small town that very day. I kid you not. Talk about a "Perfect Storm." Well, we didn’t make it. By 9:30, we were in line at that McDonalds ordering their new Angus beef burgers, fries, nuggets, drinks, and apple pies. It was the most I had eaten in one sitting since Thanksgiving! The next morning, when I got on the scale, I discovered I had lost 2 pounds! I couldn’t believe it! Was pigging out at McDonalds the secret? I wasn’t so lucky, of course, the next day, Sunday, my McDonalds-loving scale told me I had gained almost 4 pounds! It just took an extra day for the scale to notice. Suddenly, the gorging didn’t seem worth it. My wife and I did two “steak days” in a row (if you are unfamiliar with the diet, this is where you eat nothing all day, then have a big, juicy steak for dinner – no weight limit). By Tuesday morning, we were back to where we were before the pigging out. We took two things away with us from this. One, the gorging just isn’t worth the three to four days you lose playing catch-up on the HCG diet. And two, if you do fall off the wagon, so to speak, it isn’t the end of the world. Four days later, you can be right back where you were. This happened to us one more time during our first diet. My wife’s sister had retired from the Air Force, and their whole family came into town for the weekend for the celebration. Too much family and too much food wasn’t good for the HCG diet. But, again, four days later, we were back on track. This is why when anyone asks how much weight I lost on the HCG diet, I tell them “30 pounds in 30 days.” The two food events added another 7 days to our 23 day diet. Even with our two weak moments though, I averaged a pound a day weight loss with the HCG diet! This stuff works! You just have to be committed and dedicated. We switched soaps, shampoos, deodorant, even toothpaste. I gave up beer completely for a month! If you knew me, you’d understand what a feat in itself this is. My wife gave up candy for a month. Again, you’d have to know her to understand. The only negatives we experienced on the HCG diet (besides no beer) were a little hunger the first week, and I had a few light headaches. The recommend vitamins take care of these for most people. I personally found that if I drank a bunch of water at the onset of one, it went away quickly. The end result was after just 30 days on the HCG diet, we were both much lighter, in much better shape, and much happier. I could climb my two flights of stairs without feeling winded. We both stopped hitting the snooze button in the morning because of our increased energy levels. And we both stared enjoying exercising again. Firstly, because it doesn’t kill us to do so anymore. Secondly, because we look much better doing it now. What about after the HCG diet? How hard is it to keep the pounds off? It isn’t. Neither of us even wants to eat what we used to crave. My beer intake is about half of what it was before, as is her candy and popcorn. These aren’t conscious decisions we make; we just don’t crave the bad stuff nearly as much as we used to before doing the HCG diet. We work out a couple times a week… because we want to, not because we feel we have to. And many of the foods that were on our HCG diet plan, we eat now because they are easy to make, taste great, and the kids ask for them. This is honestly the reason we decided to start this online business and sell the stuff. We absolutely love and believe in the product. We tell everyone who will listen to us about the HCG diet. Many of our friends and relatives have either done it or are currently doing it (as I’m writing this anyway). I ended the HCG diet at 152 pounds and my wife at 131. It also means that if you introduce fatty foods or sugar into your body while it is under the effect of the HCG, your body will soak up these fats and sugars, like a sponge on beer. This will result in higher than normal weight gain in reaction to these foods. So having that one bite or two of your favorite dessert, or those yummy ribs at the neighbor's barbeque, will actually undo all the hard work you've put in for the entire day (or more). 2. Keep ready-made meals on hand. The hardest time to stick to a diet is when you're hungry. Homeopathic practitioners who don’t claim any additional medical training (called professional homeopaths) are often very knowledgeable and capable in their practice, although unique legal issues could exist; and, some assume since homeopathic medicines are viewed as drugs (even though they are for the most part “over the counter drugs”) they should be prescribed only by a physician. Are there unknown safety issues related to homeopathic medicines? No. Homeopathic medicine is safe. The small doses dispensed make them doubly safe. Make sure you are working with an experienced professional, and you will not be able to treat an ailment in a safer, more effective way. Do homeopathic medicines interact negatively with conventional medication taken simultaneously? No harm will be done by taking a homeopathic remedy while on a conventional medication. But some conventional medications are so disruptive to the natural physiological processes of the body that they will inhibit the body from reacting naturally, and therefore block the benefits of the homeopathic medicine. In this case the individual would need to choose one type of treatment or the other. If homeopathy really offers treatments specific to each individual why are there homeopathic remedies for specific illnesses offered at health stores? The packaged homeopathic medicines sold in bulk at health food stores are a combination of several different medicines. The homeopathic medicines included are typically the highly prescribed homeopathic medicines for the symptoms specific for the illness specified in the packaging. By offering the combination of medicines that are most often prescribed for the ailment the manufacturer assumes that one of the combinations (up to 8) will cure the illness presenting in the consumer making the purchase. These medicines are very popular throughout the US and Europe not only because they are easy to obtain and prescribe, but because they are often effective. While the combination homeopathic medicines can be effective and are easy to use, the homeopathic combination medicines are "user friendly." Also, since these medicines are much safer than conventional drugs, they are generally preferable to a growing number of consumers. Combination medicines are invaluable, but most professional homeopaths have found that the medicine individually chosen for the person tends to work more often and more deeply. Still, if a person does not know how to choose the individual homeopathic medicine or if it isn't readily available, the various homeopathic combination medicines are invaluable. It is, however, generally believed that combination medicines should not be prescribed for chronic or serious acute health problems. Such conditions require the supervision of homeopathic or medical experts.
What is a sample diet on the HCG diet plan? Although what you eat is very particular while on the HCG diet, it doesn't mean you can't eat well. With the approved foods (lean meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, approved seasonings, Stevia, etc.) and some good resources providing recipes, you won't even feel like you're limiting yourself to very healthy non-fat meals. For example check out the sample diet plan below. It offers variety while fulfilling the HCG diet requirements. Most importantly, it tastes good! Day One: Breakfast should be limited to Pomegranate herbal tea sweetened by Vanilla Stevia. The Pomegranate herbal tea carries a lot of extra healthy benefits and you'll be surprised how filled you'll feel after a cup of sweetened tea. For lunch you can have some grilled chicken over 2-3 cups of lettuce, half a grapefruit, and some Melba toast. That gives you your protein, your fruit, your starch, and your vegetable. Now for dinner you can have grilled fish (use your favorite no-carbohydrate seasonings), steamed cabbage with salt and pepper, and some strawberries enhanced with vanilla Stevia sweetener drops. Day Two: For breakfast on day two go ahead and have half a grapefruit. Make sure to sweeten it with Stevia and add a flavored herbal tea as well. When it's time for lunch have the other half of your grapefruit. Grill some chicken with onions and celery and peppers along with appropriate seasonings. Let it cool for a minute and then shred the chicken. Take lettuce leaves and use the chicken/veggie mixture to create a lettuce wrap. Don't forget to add in your Melba toast; they can serve as "chips" to scoop up any left-over chicken mixture. For dinner have some grilled fish and asparagus. Later, have an after dinner snack. An apple will be perfect. Day Three: Have an apple with your herbal tea for breakfast. Put a very lean roast in the crock pot to cook for several hours (it should be ready in time for dinner). Include onions and celery and seasonings. For lunch have some chili (homemade according to the HCG preparation described in our HCG Diet Direct cookbook). It will give you your protein and your vegetable, and it goes perfectly with your two Melba toasts. For dinner your roast should be ready. Remember to control your portion size and make sure to save your leftovers in single serving containers for later meals. With your roast have 1-2 cups of salad, and a warm cinnamon apple for dessert (Just sprinkle cinnamon on cut apples and warm them up in the microwave. It's a fabulous HCG appropriate dessert). As you can see, if you think and plan ahead of time, you won't struggle to incorporate all the foods at the necessary time and you won't feel that you aren't getting enough to eat. The simplicity of the diet plan is one of the things that make it such a great success with many dieters, so stick to simple while incorporating just enough variance to keep you satisfied. Don't forget to drink water constantly!
